11 million Tourists Visited Dubai in 2013

According to Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in Dubai, More than 11 million tourists visited Dubai in 2013 which shows 10.6% increase compared to last year when 10 million tourists visited in 2012. Dubai can be easily rated as the best tourists destination in world.

DTCM, the official tourism promoting body in Dubai said in report that most visitors in Dubai are from Saudi Arabia and India followed by UK and Chinese tourists. According to the report 1.33 million Saudis and 0.88 million Indians visited Dubai in 2013 representing 19.9% and 16.3% increase compare to 2012. From western countries UK leads with 758,657 tourists and 275,675 tourists from China visited in 2013 representing annual growth of 11%.

The Australian tourists expanded the most, up by 39% from more than 193,000 in 2012 to more than 269,000 in 2013.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of DTCM, said: “Having announced the Tourism Vision for 2020 in May 2013, a 10.6 percent growth in hotel guests demonstrates we are on track to double the 10 million tourists received in 2012 to 20 million per year by 2020 and is an affirmation of the destination’s ever increasing appeal.”

The number of hotels grew to 611 in 2013 with reaching $5.94 billion dollars revenue representing 16.1% increase. According to DTCM that by 2014-2016 141 new hotels will be added to the market which will include 99 hotels and 48 hotel apartments. That will make total of 751 hotels with almost 114,000 rooms.
