Jumeirah Garden City: Marvelous Manhattan of Dubai

Meraas Development has burst on to Dubai’s property stage with the announcement of its first-ever project worth a staggering Dh350 billion (approx. $95bn). Meraas Development has commissioned Chicago architect Adrian Smith from Gordan Gill Architecture to design four new projects as part of the Jumeirah Garden master plan. The master plan includes 1 Dubai, 1 Park Avenue, Park Gate and Meraas Tower, One of tallest building in world with varied micro climates and a mini-Manhattan.

It is reported that architects behind the design of the Nakheel’s one kilometer high Dubai tower have revealed the secrets of how it will cope with high winds.

Mr Mark Mitcheson Low director in charge of the project & MD of Woods Bagot Middle East said that the cylindrical tower which will be 95 meters in diameter is in fact four towers encircling an internal void, linked at intervals by sky bridges.

A building boom in the emirate has led to a whole host of chart breakers, in categories including highest apartment, biggest mall, and one of the world’s most unique resorts.

Tourism is also being promoted at a staggering rate with the construction of Dubailand and other projects that include the making of mammoth shopping malls, theme parks, resorts, stadiums and other various tourist Attractions. Dubai is determined to be main contender worldwide in the world tourism industry. Dubai is already a top favorites tourist destination and continues with its outstanding never been done before projects.

The early part of the 21st century is quickly becoming known as the age of Dubai. Many of the world’s most impressive, breathtaking, and startling architectural projects are being constructed in a city.

Burj-Al-Arab


The Burj Al-Arab is named as “Tower of the Arabs” in Arabic. It is a luxury hotel in Dubai, in the largest city of the United Arab Emirates, which is marketed as “the world’s first seven-star hotel”.
In english “Burj Al Arab” means The Arabian Tower. Burj Al Arab was one of the most expensive buildings ever built. At night, it offers an unforgettable sight, surrounded by choreographed color sculptures of water and fire. This all-suite hotel reflects the finest that the world has to offer.

Hydropolis will be the world’s first luxury underwater hotel. It will include three elements: the land station, where guests will be welcomed, the connecting tunnel, which will transport people by train to the main area of the hotel, and the 220 suites within the submarine leisure complex. It is one of the largest contemporary construction projects in the world, covering an area of 260 hectares, about the size of London’s Hyde Park.

“Hydropolis is not a project; it’s a passion,” enthuses Joachim Hauser, the developer and designer of the hotel. His futuristic vision is about to take shape 20m below the surface of the Persian Gulf, just off the Jumeirah Beach coastline in Dubai.

“Green Roofs” for every building in Dubai

Dubai Municipality has embarked on an initiative called “Green Roofs” that aims to encourage people to grow plants on their rooftops. Municipality buildings will be the first to test out the concept before the initiative is implemented in a phased manner.

Dubai’s green buildings project about to be launched is considered important in reducing carbon emissions and in enhancing indoor environment and air. It also enhances the health of Dubai’s society and increases life expectancy of the buildings, as well as protecting the local eco system. Increased productivity is also expected. Economic support from different sectors is predicted.
