According to a new survey released by the Foreign Investment Office of Dubai Economic Department shows that more than 80% of investors are planning to maintain or increase their investment in Dubai. This shows investors high level confidence on Dubai economic.

Countdown for Abu Dhabi Grand Pix started to get momentum when Dubai residents on Sheikh Zayed Road had an unexpected wake up call yesterday early in morning as a Red Bull Formula One(F1) racing down to Sheikh Zayed Road.

Reaching speeds of more than 297 kph, driver Neel Jani took the Red Bull car for a spin along the city’s main road free from traffic for once to the delight of early morning birds who had emerged from their slumber to catch a glimpse of the surreal sight.

Neel Jani, current A1 GP Champion express his feelings, He said: “It was so cool being able to see Dubai’s famous skyline from the car it was a pretty unique experience”.

After economy crunch in international market and specially a crises in Dubai Property business things are getting back to their normality.

CEO of Nakheel announced during a site visit to Al Furjan that Nakheel is in process of restarting all of its short-term projects. Restructuring plan expected to be finalized by end of year 2010.

Chris O’Donnell, Nakheel CEO, said: “We should have all the agreements with contractors in place by the end of October to restart construction at all of our eight short-term projects. We’ve had good discussion with the banks and consolidations, restructuring should be pretty much completed by end year”.

Al Furjan, off Emirates Road in Dubai, is the first project on which Nakheel has reached an agreement with its contractor working on 300 villas to complete what was started two years back.

Tarek Zoabi, managing partner at Al Shafar Transport and Contracting, confirmed that work was under way on 63 villas to be handed over in the first quarter of 2011 and the remaining 237, many already around 60% complete, by the fourth quarter of next year.

However, The developer Nakheel would not reveal when and how much of its long-term projects will eventually go ahead, but confirmed that what has already been dredged of projects like Palm Deira is being maintained.

Chris O’Donnell added: “The focus first is to finish the restructuring and with that the eight projects within the next two years”.

Short-term projects are phases or components of master developments where construction has progressed significantly. They include initial phases of Al Furjan, Jumeirah Park, Veneto and Badrah at the Waterfront’s Madinat Al Arab, Jumeirah Village South, Jumeirah Heights, Jumeirah Island, as well as finishing up bits and pieces on Palm Jumeirah.

Despite the global credit crunch and recent crisis in Dubai its been reported that Dubai has the lowest unemployment rate due to high level of economic activity. The UAE’s unemployment rate fell to 4.2% last year from double-digit.

Minister of Economy, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, released Economic Report for 2009 by the National Statistics Bureau on this weekend.

The report showed that 53% of the UAE population is employed while 19.9% has no desire to work. Employment rate among expatriate workers is 79% while about 45% of UAE nationals are employed.

According to report majority of unemployed are fresh graduates under age of 25. The economically active workforce is aged between 25 to 54 years. Of this group, 42% is female while the average of the male working population in this age bracket is 89%.

According to the report among the emirates, the unemployment rate is lowest in Dubai due to the high level of economic activity.

However, The report showed an unexpected increase in the UAE population, touching 8.19 million in 2009, up from 8.07 million in 2008, a figure that is nearly double the 4.1 million reported during the 2006 census.

With a total GDP of Dh914 billion, this translates to Dh111,599 per capita GDP in 2009 — one of the highest in the world.

Major General Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, senior Interior Ministry Official told gulf news reporter that citizens of 34 countries do not have to wait one month before applying for a visit visa after leaving the UAE.

He said: “Citizens of nations who need to obtain an entry permit into the country through any one of the residency departments will not be able to apply for another visa immediately after they leave the country”.

Maj. Gen Al Menhali explained UAE visa policy, He said: “Even if they stay here for two days and leave the country, they can come back after one month. If a visitor comes here, then goes on vacation to a nearby country and wants to come back, he should wait for one month before returning here”.

Maj. Gen. Al Menhali said these rules apply to people who need to apply for a visa prior entering the UAE. “There are citizens of 34 countries who do not need a visa in advance. These citizens can get a visa upon arrival in the UAE”.

He said since the visa is issued upon arrival, these citizens can come back here any time they like.

“Citizens of these 34 countries need to show their passport to the immigration officer at any of the country’s borders and they will have a new visa stamped. They can come and go as much as they want and at any time they want,” he said.
