2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class : A Complete Review

Competing in the compact luxury SUVs segment is quite difficult because they don’t only settle in being practical or getting the job done, no they need to excel and overwhelm the buyers in every aspect they need in an SUV and even exceed their expectations. What’s new for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class?

The 2020 GLC-class has gone through several changes and updates in terms of style, technology, and power. Starting with a new set of LED headlights and taillights, fresh-new front and rear bumpers, and redesigned grill, Also there’s a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine that produces 14 more horsepower to the machine, and the plugin-in-hybrid model has got a new better and larger enhanced battery adding more torque and drive range to it, and a new digital 12.3-inch instrument panel.

The one new major and significant update the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class has got is the use of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system (MBUX). A state-of-the-art voice command system technology that allows you to control the entertainment unit, navigation, phone, vehicle ambient temperature, and other functions with a simple “Hey Mercedes” to unlock a world of technology to you. What’s the (MBUX) so special the ease of use and the accuracy of responding, with a simple voice command you can control the vehicle ambient temperature to what you need and ask for directions to reach your destination with the use of a couple of words.

Drive and Performance

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class has provided four engines variates to choose from; the GLC 300 which may tempt you that it got a 3.0-liter engine but in fact it’s equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 258 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission powering the rear wheels, nevertheless this four-cylinder engine will take you from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h.

For those who concern more about the fuel economy and the environment, Mercedes-Benz provided a plug-in-hybrid variant for them and it is badged as the Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e, using the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and nine-speed transmission as the GLC 300 but it is equipped with an electric motor which boosts its power to a whopping 315 horsepower and it’s only available in all-wheel drive.

If you are a fan of big engines Mercedes-Benz haven’t left you behind, the AMG GLC 43 4Matic brings out the big guns, with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine putting out 390 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and tops up at 250 km/h, also paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Last but certainly not least comes the most exciting variant of them, the AMG GLC 63 4Matic. This one will make you bounce off the wall, the real power of AMG is unleashed by a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine that brings out 476 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque paired with a 9-speed Automatic and is ready to jump from not to a 100 km/h in 4 seconds and flatout at 270 km/h, also has an all-wheel drive, also it comes with an upgraded brake system, a limited-slip differential, and a variable torque distribution.

The Mercedes-Benz has 5 drive modes to choose from:
Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.

The Eco and Comfort modes are designed to ease your everyday driving with more fuel efficiency, the Sport and Sport+ will adjust the suspension, throttle response, and steering in order to get more grip and faster response, lastly the Individual mode gives you the opportunity to tweak and configure the throttle, steering and suspension to suit your driving style.

Should you buy the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class?

The answer is simply yes. The Mercedes GLC makes a good choice for a compact luxury SUV, it will defiantly fit your criteria and ravish you with elegance, though the 2020 Mercedes-Benz price is a bit steeper than some other competitors like BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, and Volvo XC60, its does stand out amongst them with its luxurious interior and elegant design. In the end, you just going to have to ask yourself what do you want exactly in an SUV? If you are willing to spend a couple more bucks then you might want to try the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class first, if not you still got some decent other competitors to try and choose from.
