6 Things You Should Know Before Going To Dubai

Dubai is a very beautiful place and there are a lot of opportunities there, especially if you own a business or work for a large corporation. But it is also very different from most places in the world in many different ways, and if you are traveling there or moving there for the first time, there are several things you should be aware of. Here are 6 things you should know before going to Dubai.

1. Laws Are Strict

Laws are much more strict in Dubai than they are in many other places in the world. Before going there, you should be aware that if you have a handgun, any type of drug, or various other things, you may get in a lot more trouble than you would elsewhere. Make sure to research and read up on all of the laws beforehand so that you don’t make any mistakes and are not caught off-guard.

2. Dress Modestly

There is an unspoken dress code in Dubai and it is a lot more conservative than most places and likely wherever you are coming from. In order to respect the culture and not draw unnecessary attention to yourself, you should dress as modestly as possible in public when you are there.

3. Be Careful With Alcohol

Although drinking alcohol is legal in Dubai, drinking in public is not. Be extremely careful if you plan on consuming alcohol while there, and perhaps only do so while you are at home or at your hotel.

4. Don’t Engage In PDA

Public displays of affection such as kissing, cuddling, and hand-holding may be alright wherever you come from, but in Dubai, these types of things are considered extremely offensive. To be respectful you should refrain from all forms of PDA while you are there.

5. Do Not Take Photos Without Permission

Taking photos without concern of any kind can be offensive in Dubai, especially if other people or buildings are in them. Make sure to ask for permission before taking any photographs so that you don’t hurt or offend anyone.

6. Book In Advance

Whether you are moving to Dubai or just visiting, you should definitely book your travel well in advance. If you book your flight 6 months to a year in advance you will get the best prices and save yourself a ton of money. As well, if you are just traveling to Dubai for work or vacationing there, you should book your hotels and other accommodations as far in advance as possible. In Dubai, these types of things become unbearably expensive if booked on short notice.
